Derrick Rose Immerses in Filipino Culture During Cebu Visit

Derrick Rose has visited the Philippines several times, but his latest trip offered him a fresh way to experience the country's culture.

In Cebu for an ArenaPlus promotional event, the former NBA MVP immersed himself in Filipino traditions—even taking part in a tinikling performance during the Champion's Circle Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday, August 25.

Rose said it was his first time doing a promotional event by the waters, making the Cebu gathering a distinct experience from his previous visits to the Philippines, including his most recent trip to Manila just last April, also for ArenaPlus.

Held at Shangri-La Mactan, the evening brought together the organization's VIP members from Cebu, key opinion leaders, and members of the media for an intimate celebration.

Rose was introduced to Filipino traditions throughout the night, with cultural performances forming part of the program. He eventually joined in the festivities himself, trying out the Philippine national dance as guests cheered him on.

For Rose, the experience offered another glimpse into a culture he has grown increasingly familiar with through his visits to the country.

The basketball star also spent time interacting with guests, posing for photos and sharing a few words.

"Looking forward to experiencing the people here, and being here is wonderful, getting to work by the beach is unreal. It's been a lot of love knowing the traditional dances, always glad to go to new places and experiencing the love," Rose said.

The Champion's Circle Appreciation Dinner was part of ArenaPlus' VIP Nights, a series the brand launched to give its most loyal players exclusive experiences and opportunities to interact with athletes and personalities from the world of sports.

Although unable to attend in person, ArenaPlus Head Ethan William welcomed guests through a pre-recorded message.

"We started VIP Nights last December for one simple reason: to recognize our most valued players and give you something made just for you," said William. "Tonight is our way of saying thank you for being part of ArenaPlus. And of course, we wanted to make it extra special."

The evening featured cultural performances, raffle draws, photo opportunities, and chances for guests to interact with Rose.

For William, taking the event to Cebu was another way of bringing the brand's VIP community together outside the usual online experience.

"So we're bringing you closer to Derrick Rose—not just as an NBA legend, but someone whose story has inspired basketball fans everywhere," he said.

William also noted that ArenaPlus plans to continue improving its platform, pointing to faster loading and bet processing, a more intuitive interface, and strengthened responsible gaming tools.

PAGCOR Fines Casino Plus P1 Million Over Ivana Alawi Cellphone Giveaway

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) has imposed a P1-million fine on gambling firm Casino Plus for sponsoring celebrity influencer Ivana Alawi's giveaway of 100 cellphones without securing the necessary promotional approval, a top official confirmed.

PAGCOR Chairperson Alejandro Tengco said the agency penalized the company and issued a stern warning that further violations could result in the suspension or even cancellation of its gaming license.

"We fined the online gaming company P1 million and, together with that, gave them a stern warning that this should not happen again," Tengco stated during the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations' hearing on the agency's 2027 budget.

"If this happens again, there will be a heavier fine, and the possibility that it can lead—another violation can lead to the suspension and ultimately, the cancellation of their license," he added.

Tengco clarified that the company failed to seek PAGCOR's permission for the promotion.

GMA News Online has reached out to Casino Plus for comment, but a statement was not immediately available.

Tengco's remarks followed a query from Kamanggagawa Party-list Representative Elijah Fernando, who flagged the promotion, which required participants to "like" the company's social media page to qualify for the giveaway.

In a separate development, PAGCOR projects its total income to decline to P86.498 billion this year, down from P106.031 billion in 2025. Tengco attributed the anticipated drop to a central bank order requiring e-wallets to disconnect from online gambling platforms, as well as the ongoing impact of the Middle East conflict on the market.

The agency also reported a 20% decline in gross gaming revenues (GGR) to P88.13 billion in the second quarter of 2026, compared to P110.63 billion in the same period last year. Licensed casinos remained the top revenue contributor, accounting for P45.37 billion.

PlayTime Entertainment expands beyond gaming with PT Summit, other non-gaming ventures

PlayTime Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it has diversified its operations to create new revenue streams, responding to Filipino audiences' shifting preferences in an increasingly digital and fast-paced entertainment landscape.

The company's latest venture, PT Summit, showcases how PlayTime is navigating the digital revolution while helping reshape the traditional media landscape. Designed to assist media companies in delivering better content to their audiences, PT Summit positions PlayTime as a technology partner for the media industry as it continues to grow and expand its digital footprint.

PlayTime Entertainment president Crisanto Roy Alcid emphasized the importance of keeping pace with digitalization and evolving public lifestyles.

"PlayTime Entertainment has to be at par with digitalization and the changing lifestyle needs of the public; thus we continue to innovate," Alcid said. "We have to take advantage of the digital era to get ahead of our competitors in the entertainment industry. More importantly, this is also to emphasize that we are more than just a gaming platform."

PlayTime originally built its roots in online gaming and established a strong presence among gamers. Since then, its management has expanded the business into a broader, more diverse platform. Recognizing further potential in the entertainment and digital space, the company pivoted toward non-gaming operations, creating PT Sports, PT Idol, and PT Cares, while its online gaming brand now operates independently under PT Gaming.

PT Sports has strengthened its presence in the regional esports scene by developing competitive teams. Earlier this year, it completed its Dota 2 roster, adding veteran players alongside young talents eager to make their mark in the game. PT Idol, meanwhile, focuses on discovering and managing the next generation of young Filipino talents and groups, with the goal of helping them reach the global stage.

With PT Summit now part of its portfolio, PlayTime Entertainment has demonstrated that its non-gaming ventures will also serve as significant revenue sources for the company. Alcid expressed optimism about continued growth ahead.

"We are positive that this is just the start of something bigger for PlayTime Entertainment," he said.

Zeinab Harake Parks Brings the Fun to Kadayawan 2026 as Casino Plus Draws Nearly 2,000 Revelers to Davao Whisky Park

Davao City – Casino Plus, one of the country’s leading responsible digital entertainment platforms licensed by PAGCOR, transformed Davao Whisky Park into one of the liveliest hubs of Kadayawan 2026 on Friday night. Social media sensation and digital content creator Zeinab Harake Parks delivered her signature high-energy performance before an electrified crowd of nearly 2,000 attendees, who came for an evening packed with games, prizes, and nonstop entertainment.

Greeted by thunderous cheers from her devoted fanbase—affectionately known as the “Zebbies”—Zeinab took the stage with an enthusiastic “Maayong gabi sa inyong tanan!” Marking her first-ever Kadayawan experience and her second visit to Davao since filming a vlog in the city back in 2020, she celebrated alongside the community well past midnight.

True to her word—and in perfect alignment with Casino Plus’s core mission to “bring fun to people”—Zeinab delivered round after round of entertainment as fans repeatedly chanted “Arat na, Zeinab!” across the park.

Embracing her well-earned title as social media’s “Reyna ng Good Vibes,” she passionately engaged the crowd—posing for group selfies from the stage and on the ground, filming on-the-spot TikTok videos with five lucky meet-and-greet winners, and praising the heartfelt warmth of the Davaoeño community. She noted that true beauty, she observed, radiates from having a good and generous heart.

Zeinab also opened up about what she values most in her partnership with Casino Plus, emphasizing how the platform has given her the chance to connect with communities nationwide:

“I get to explore every city sa Philippines. Ngayon, andito ako sa Davao. Looking forward pa ako sa ibang cities and provinces para sa Casino Plus event. Excited pa ako sa maraming-marami pang provinces,” she shared.

The high-energy activation gave festivalgoers the chance to try Hantak-themed games, enjoy complimentary refreshments, join creator meet-and-greets, and participate in hourly raffle draws that sent attendees home with premium tech prizes—including AirPods 4, JBL speakers, and an iPad.

The social media star also invited audience members onstage for a viral TikTok dance-off, with winners taking home ₱10,000 cash prizes courtesy of Casino Plus. Zeinab personally handed out ₱5,000 consolation cash prizes to the remaining participants. Despite the friendly competition, contestants helped one another remember the dance steps—a heartwarming display of camaraderie that she said proves Davao City is truly one of the friendliest cities in the Philippines.

“Ang galing nila, hindi sila nate-threaten! Kahit magkalaban sila, nag-agree,” Harake-Parks quipped, after one contestant happily confirmed to the crowd that her rivals had nailed the routine.

Among those who flew to Davao City just to join the festivities were Anthony and Zara, a couple from Manila who shared their excitement about seeing Zeinab in person.

“Masaya! Sobrang saya. Pati ‘yung mga booths, lalong-lalo na ‘yung mga games, ang ganda. Siya rin ‘yung reason bakit kami nandito,” Anthony said. “Enjoy dito kasi napakaraming prizes!” Zara added.

International residents also joined in the fun. Yuri, a Russian expatriate living in Davao City, took part in the games and walked away with consolation prizes. “I really enjoyed it!” he said.

The Casino Plus Kadayawan activation demonstrates how bringing Filipino cultural gaming traditions and modern entertainment together on one stage creates meaningful, shared experiences—not just for fans, but for festivalgoers and communities across the Philippines.

The Casino Regular Who Never Chases a Losing Streak: Meet One of Online Gaming’s Most Unusual Players

The Casino Regular Who Never Chases a Losing Streak: Meet One of Online Gaming’s Most Unusual Players

Most casino stories begin with a jackpot. This one begins with an alarm clock.

Every Friday evening at exactly 9:30, “Tony” opens his phone, makes himself a cup of coffee, and logs into his favorite online casino. At 10:30, an alarm rings. Whether he is winning, losing, or sitting in the middle of a bonus round, that alarm usually means his night is almost over.

It is a routine he has followed for more than three years.

Tony is not a professional gambler, nor does he claim to have discovered a secret system for beating casino games. The 42-year-old small business owner simply became known among a circle of fellow players for an unusual reason: he is remarkably disciplined about when he plays and, more importantly, when he stops.

“I have friends who remember every jackpot they ever won,” Tony said. “I remember the nights when I decided to close the app.”

His approach started after an experience early in his online gaming days. Tony had enjoyed a strong run on a slot game and ended the evening considerably ahead. Instead of stopping, he continued playing because he believed the session was “hot.”

Within a few hours, most of what he had won was gone.

The experience changed the way he looked at casino entertainment.

Rather than trying to predict when a game might pay, Tony began setting rules around something he could actually control: his own playing habits.

His Friday routine eventually became surprisingly detailed. He sets aside a fixed entertainment budget before logging in and does not add more money once it has been used. He generally plays for around an hour and avoids opening a casino app outside his planned sessions.

Perhaps his strangest habit is what happens after a large win.

He stops.

“I know that sounds boring,” he joked. “But if something good happens, why do I need to immediately test my luck again?”

That attitude has occasionally surprised other players. Casino culture is filled with stories about streaks, lucky hours, favorite seats, special numbers and rituals believed to influence the next result. Tony has little interest in any of them.

He does have one superstition: the same coffee mug accompanies nearly every Friday session. Even then, he admits it has nothing to do with winning.

“The mug doesn't know what the slot is going to do,” he said.

Over the years, Tony has tried everything from slots and baccarat to Filipino favorites such as Color Game and Tongits. His preferences change regularly, but his routine rarely does.

He also keeps a simple record of his sessions. Surprisingly, the notebook is not intended to uncover patterns or create a betting strategy. It records how much he spent and how long he played.

That distinction matters because casino outcomes remain uncertain. Previous wins and losses do not determine what happens in the next round, and no routine can guarantee a profitable result.

Tony's story therefore stands apart from the familiar tale of a mysterious player who supposedly discovers a way to defeat the casino.

There is no secret formula here.

What makes him unusual is that after years of playing, he has become less interested in finding one.

For Tony, online casino games occupy roughly the same place in his weekly routine as watching a movie or going out for dinner. There is a budget, a beginning and, importantly, an ending.

His biggest win remains a favorite story among his friends, although he declined to disclose the exact amount. Asked what he did immediately afterward, his answer was characteristically uneventful.

“I logged out,” he said. “Then I finished my coffee.”

In an industry where jackpot figures naturally attract attention, Tony represents a very different kind of casino character. His story is not memorable because he always wins—he certainly doesn't—but because he built his entire routine around accepting that he cannot know what happens next.

And every Friday at 10:30 p.m., the same alarm reminds him of exactly that.

Derrick Rose makes first Cebu visit for two-day ‘Rose Meets the Queen’ celebration

Cebuano basketball fans will get a chance to see NBA legend and 2011 Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose up close as he makes his first visit to the Queen City of the South for “Rose Meets the Queen: Derrick Rose in Cebu,” a two-day basketball celebration culminating on August 26 at SM Seaside City Cebu.

The upcoming appearance marks Rose’s third visit to the Philippines as an ArenaPlus brand ambassador, but his first in Cebu, a province widely recognized for its deep-rooted passion for basketball.

The celebration begins on August 25 with an exclusive Champion’s Circle Appreciation Dinner, where select ArenaPlus players will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the former Chicago Bulls star in a more intimate setting.

The event then opens to the wider Cebuano basketball community on August 26 at SM Seaside City Cebu. Activities will begin at 11:00 a.m., with basketball-themed activities, giveaways, fan experiences, and entertainment scheduled throughout the day. Admission is free for guests aged 21 and above.

For ArenaPlus, bringing Rose to Cebu is part of a broader effort to extend major sports experiences beyond Metro Manila and connect more Filipino fans with the athletes and sports they follow.

“Sports have always been about more than what happens on the court. They bring people together and give fans a community where they can share the moments that make the game special,” said Ethan William, Head of ArenaPlus.

“That’s why we want to bring experiences like this closer to fans across the country, not just in Metro Manila. Cebu has an incredible passion for basketball, and bringing Derrick here is one way for us to celebrate that community and give Cebuano fans an experience they can call their own,” William added.

The festivities will continue throughout the afternoon, with Filipino artist Skusta Clee set to take the stage for a live performance. The appearance adds a music component to the celebration, bringing basketball, entertainment, and fan interaction together under one event.

“Rose Meets the Queen” gives Cebu fans their opportunity to welcome one of the NBA’s most recognizable former stars while marking another milestone in Rose’s relationship with Filipino basketball fans.

As a PAGCOR-licensed online sportsbook in the Philippines, ArenaPlus continues to expand its sports-related activities beyond its digital platform, creating opportunities for players and fans to connect with major athletes and sporting experiences across the country.

DepEd recognizes Color Your World Foundation for ₱2.1M classroom digitalization initiative

The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Angeles City, Pampanga has recognized Color Your World Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Casino Plus, for a ₱2.175-million classroom digitalization initiative benefiting 14 public schools and more than 20,000 students.

The foundation received a plaque of appreciation during an awarding ceremony at the DepEd-SDO Angeles City office for its Project Liwanag: Digital Learning Access Initiative, implemented under DepEd’s Adopt-A-School Program.

Through the project, Color Your World Foundation donated ₱2,175,000 worth of classroom technology, including 89 smart TVs, laptops, desktop computers, and instructional accessories. The equipment was distributed to 14 partner public schools across Angeles City to support teachers with more interactive digital tools and give students wider access to technology-enabled learning resources.

Casino Plus CSR Director Michael Angelo Horfilla, who accepted the citation on behalf of the foundation, said the recognition reflects the impact of Project Liwanag on local schools.

“This recognition proves that Project Liwanag is successfully illuminating new opportunities for our students and teachers,” Horfilla said. “Through the Adopt-A-School Program, we are transforming classrooms with smart TVs and laptops to put interactive, modern tools directly into educators’ hands. As a technology-driven company, Casino Plus firmly believes every learner deserves a connected, future-ready environment.”

He added that the foundation remains committed to working with DepEd in promoting digital literacy and strengthening classroom learning.

Angeles City Schools Division Superintendent Edgard Domingo also acknowledged the partnership, highlighting the role of private-sector support in improving public education.

“When we deliver our services with compassion and partner with forward-looking organizations, we build stronger environments where our children can thrive,” Domingo said. “This citation is our heartfelt expression of gratitude to those who choose to partner with us in shaping the future of every batang Angeleño.”

Project Liwanag forms part of Color Your World Foundation’s broader education initiatives aimed at addressing gaps in access to digital learning tools, particularly in underserved communities. Through the program, the foundation seeks to create classrooms where technology can support both teaching and learning while helping students prepare for an increasingly digital future.

The initiative also reflects the foundation’s wider goal of creating more “Makulay” lives through programs centered on education, disaster resilience, community support, health, culture, environment, and responsible gaming research and education.

In line with PAGCOR’s Responsible Gaming Code of Practice, Casino Plus also reminds players that gaming is intended for entertainment purposes only and should not be treated as a source of income or financial relief. All gaming outcomes are determined by chance, and previous results do not influence future outcomes.

Casino Plus is licensed and regulated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, while Color Your World Foundation serves as its CSR arm together with Stotsenberg Leisure Park and Hotel Corporation. The foundation works with public and private sector partners on programs focused on education, livelihood, disaster preparedness, community welfare, and responsible gaming.

Jiliso on GameZone: Spin, Explore and Discover Something New
GameZone Casino
Jiliso on GameZone: Spin, Explore and Discover Something New

Jiliso has become a familiar choice among Filipino players looking for colorful slot entertainment, varied game mechanics, and titles that are easy to explore on mobile devices. Available through GameZone, the JILI game collection gives players access to different styles of slots and casual gaming experiences without having to move between multiple platforms.

The games are developed by JILI, a provider known for its growing portfolio of online slots, arcade-style titles, and specialty games. GameZone serves as the platform where players can access these titles alongside other popular entertainment options, including Filipino favorites such as Tongits, Pusoy, Lucky 9, Poker, and PH Bingo.

This combination gives GameZone a broader appeal. Players can spend one session enjoying familiar Filipino card games and use the next to discover something completely different from JILI's catalog. For mobile users in particular, having different categories available under one account makes exploring new games considerably more convenient.

One of the reasons Jiliso titles attract attention is their straightforward approach to gameplay. Many games feature bright graphics, recognizable themes, smooth animations, and mechanics that do not require lengthy tutorials. This makes the collection approachable for newcomers while still providing enough variety for regular slot players looking for something different.

Among the better-known titles is Super Ace, which uses a playing-card theme combined with polished animations and bonus mechanics. Its simple presentation has helped make it one of JILI's recognizable releases among Filipino players.

The Fortune Gems series takes a different approach, building its visual identity around colorful gems and straightforward slot mechanics. With several titles carrying the Fortune Gems name, the series has developed into one of the more visible parts of JILI's slot catalog.

Players looking beyond conventional slots can also find games such as Mines, which introduces a different style of interaction and decision-making. Meanwhile, titles such as Fortune Garuda add fantasy-inspired themes and bonus elements, showing the range of experiences available within the JILI collection.

The variety is particularly useful for players who do not want every gaming session to feel the same. Instead of repeatedly returning to one title, users can move between different themes and formats depending on what they feel like playing at the time.

GameZone also makes accessibility an important part of the experience. Its mobile-friendly layout allows players to browse game categories, open JILI titles, manage their accounts, and move between different entertainment options from the same interface. For players who usually access online games through smartphones, reducing unnecessary steps can make a noticeable difference in everyday use.

Regular additions to the JILI catalog also give players something new to discover over time. New releases can sit alongside established favorites such as Super Ace and Fortune Gems, allowing users to explore newer mechanics without losing access to games they already know.

Ultimately, Jiliso on GameZone is less about a single standout title and more about the variety available within the collection. From recognizable slot releases to arcade and specialty-style experiences, JILI gives players plenty of room to explore, while GameZone brings those games together with its wider selection of Filipino-focused entertainment.

For players interested in discovering new titles without giving up familiar favorites, the combination offers a simple proposition: open GameZone, browse the JILI collection, and see what catches your attention next.

NUSTAR Online joined some of VIVA’s well-known artists and personalities at the first-ever VIVA All Star Games 2026, held on August 16 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Serving as a major sponsor of the event, NUSTAR Online supported a full day of sports and entertainment that brought together actors, musicians, performers, and other VIVA personalities. The event combined competitive volleyball, cheerdance, and basketball with live entertainment and fan interactions, giving audiences a chance to see their favorite stars outside their usual performances.

The competition opened with volleyball, where Team Viva One defeated Team VMX. The VMX lineup included several familiar VIVA personalities such as Angeli Khang, Robb Guinto, Micaella Raz, Apphle Celso, Apple Dy, Christy Imperial, and Christine Bermas.

The action then shifted to the cheerdance competition, where performers from different VIVA groups showcased their choreography and stage presence. Team Viva One eventually claimed another victory, completing wins in both volleyball and cheerdance.

Basketball provided the finale of the sporting competition. Team Viva Records defeated Team Viva One, 89-80, to capture the inaugural basketball championship. Migo Valid was named Basketball MVP after helping lead a Viva Records roster that also featured Arthur Nery, Adie, Rob Deniel, Amiel Sol, Matthaios, Jeremy G., Juan Caoile, and other artists.

NUSTAR Online also expanded its involvement beyond event sponsorship through NUSTAR Online Exclusives, producing additional content from inside the venue. NUSTAR Online Binibini Anne Klein Castro made her hosting debut at the event, speaking with fans, competitors, and VIVA personalities while capturing moments from the different competitions.

The partnership gives NUSTAR Online another opportunity to strengthen its presence within the Philippine entertainment and lifestyle space. By participating in an event combining sports, music, celebrity culture, and live audience experiences, the brand continues to connect its digital entertainment presence with larger on-ground events.

For VIVA, the inaugural All Star Games offered fans a different look at its growing roster of talents, allowing personalities normally associated with acting and music to compete alongside one another in a more casual sporting environment.

With Team Viva One taking the volleyball and cheerdance titles and Team Viva Records securing the basketball championship, the first VIVA All Star Games delivered a mix of competition and entertainment while establishing a new event format that could become another avenue for bringing VIVA artists closer to their audiences.

PlayTime Entertainment, Summit Media launch PT Summit to advance media technology solutions

PlayTime Entertainment and Summit Media have joined forces to launch PT Summit, a new venture focused on developing technology solutions for publishers, media organizations, and content businesses navigating an increasingly digital industry.

PT Summit brings together PlayTime Entertainment's technology expertise and Summit Media's decades of experience in building established media brands, producing content, and engaging diverse audiences. The venture aims to provide publishers with the infrastructure needed to improve digital products, make better use of audience data, strengthen content creation and distribution, and explore new opportunities for monetization.

The company will initially concentrate on three key areas: product and platform development, digital marketing solutions, and intelligent technologies supporting content creation and distribution.

Summit Media will become PT Summit's first client and flagship implementation partner. The technology will be introduced across its portfolio of brands, including Preview, PEP.ph, SPOT.ph, SPIN.ph, Smart Parenting, Esquire Philippines, and Cosmopolitan Philippines.

The official launch was held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City, bringing together business journalists, media partners, entertainment content creators, influencers, industry personalities, PlayTime Entertainment executives, and Summit Media publishers and editors.

The program included a panel discussion, press Q&A, ceremonial toast, and keynote presentations from Summit Media Chairman and Founder Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng, Summit Media President and CEO Howard Go, PlayTime Entertainment Spokesperson Adela-Mae Marshall, and PT Summit CEO Crisanto Roy Alcid.

"The initial rollout will allow PT Summit to deploy and refine its platform within an established media ecosystem, across brands with different audiences, content categories, and commercial needs," Gokongwei-Cheng said. "For Summit Media, the partnership will strengthen its product architecture, audience intelligence, marketing performance, content workflows, and monetization capabilities."

Summit Media will also serve as the first proof of concept for PT Summit, allowing the technology to be tested and refined across brands serving different audiences and commercial requirements.

"By becoming PT Summit's first client, we allow Summit Media to grow on a better technology stack while serving as the proof of concept for PT Summit," Go said.

Insights gathered during the initial implementation will help PT Summit develop a scalable model that can eventually be introduced to other publishers and content companies.

"The media industry and the way people discover and consume content continue to change," Alcid said. "PT Summit was created to provide critical tech infrastructure that media companies need to adapt to these changes. We are empowering storytellers with world-class technology. By partnering with Summit Media first, we are proving the model with one of the best in the business."

Following the initial rollout, PT Summit plans to offer its technology to independent publishers, media networks, and other content businesses looking to strengthen their digital capabilities without having to develop complex technology infrastructure from the ground up.

Through the venture, PlayTime Entertainment and Summit Media aim to create a technology model that can help media organizations better understand their audiences, streamline operations, strengthen content distribution, and build more scalable digital businesses.
