Rising Filipino boxing prospect and ArenaPlus ambassador Kenneth Llover believes his relentless pressure and aggressive fighting style could prove decisive when he faces unbeaten American boxer Michael Angeletti in their upcoming International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title eliminator in Nagoya, Japan.
Llover (17-0, 12 KOs) is preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career as he takes on Angeletti (14-0) on June 6 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname. The winner of the bout will earn the opportunity to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF bantamweight title currently held by Mexican champion Jose Salas Reyes.
The undefeated Filipino southpaw expressed confidence that his volume punching and constant forward pressure will give him the edge against the American contender.
“I believe my punching power and ability to maintain constant pressure will play a major role in this fight. I’m coming in prepared to control the pace and prove what I can do inside the ring,” Llover said.
The 24-year-old boxer, who has earned comparisons from Japanese fans to legendary Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao because of his aggressive style, has already intensified his training camp in Tagaytay City ahead of the highly anticipated showdown.
Known for his explosive starts, Llover has recorded 12 knockout victories in his undefeated run, including four first-round finishes. He is scheduled to leave for Japan on May 30 before the official weigh-in on June 5.
“I feel very confident because we’ve worked extremely hard for this opportunity. Everything we need is being done in training, and with God’s guidance, we believe we can secure the win against Angeletti,” he added.
Despite his confidence, Llover acknowledged the challenge posed by the 29-year-old Angeletti, who also enters the fight unbeaten and owns eight knockout victories of his own. The American fighter is widely regarded for his ring intelligence and solid punching power.
Still, Llover remains motivated as he continues training under veteran coach Dindo Campo alongside conditioning coach Alex Ariza, Carl Peñalosa Jr., and former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa, who also serves as his manager.
“I don’t really see it as pressure — it’s more excitement for me. I’m eager to return to the ring and showcase my improvement not only to Filipino fans but also to the international boxing community,” Llover said.
Meanwhile, ArenaPlus reiterated its strong support for the Filipino boxer as he prepares for the biggest test of his career so far.
