Justin Brownlee not only led Barangay Ginebra San Miguel back to championship glory but also emerged as the most-backed player among ArenaPlus users throughout the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Data from ArenaPlus, the Philippines’ leading PAGCOR-licensed online sportsbook, showed that Brownlee accounted for 22.11 percent of all player bets placed during the championship series, making him the platform’s most popular player throughout the Finals.
The confidence in Ginebra’s longtime import extended beyond his popularity. Nearly 82 percent (81.98%) of bets involving Brownlee predicted he would exceed his projected statistics across key categories, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
ArenaPlus’ player markets allow users to predict whether a player will finish above or below statistical projections set by the platform.
Brownlee lived up to those expectations with another dominant Finals campaign. The 38-year-old naturalized Filipino averaged 36.57 points, 9.14 rebounds, 5.14 assists, and 1.29 steals per game, helping the Gin Kings defeat TNT Tropang 5G and capture their first PBA championship in three years.
His Finals performance included back-to-back scoring outbursts of 54 points in Game 5 and 52 points in Game 6, helping Ginebra complete its title run while further cementing his reputation as one of the PBA’s most accomplished imports.
The championship was Brownlee’s seventh PBA title, extending his record as the league’s winningest import.
TNT import Chris McCullough ranked second in total player bets with 12.80 percent, with more than 70 percent of users expecting him to surpass his projected numbers.
Newly crowned Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference RJ Abarrientos placed third with 11.77 percent of player bets, while 68.97 percent of users predicted he would finish above his statistical projections.
TNT veteran RR Pogoy followed with 10.28 percent of total player bets, as 77.05 percent of users backed him to outperform expectations. Ginebra guard and eventual Finals MVP Scottie Thompson rounded out the Top Five with 9.39 percent of player bets, with 81.32 percent of wagers predicting an above-projection performance.
Completing the Top 10 most-backed players during the Finals were Jordan Heading (8.63 percent), Calvin Oftana (6.89 percent), Troy Rosario (3.75 percent), Rey Nambatac (3.16 percent), and Japeth Aguilar (3.06 percent).
As Ginebra ended its three-year title drought, Brownlee once again proved why he remains one of the league’s most trusted stars, both on the court and among basketball fans following every game.
“Justin Brownlee has earned the trust of basketball fans through years of success in the PBA, and the Finals showed that confidence remains as strong as ever,” said ArenaPlus Head Erick Su.
“The players who attracted the most support were also those carrying the biggest responsibilities on the court. Fans clearly recognized the key performers throughout a highly competitive championship series.”
