Under the spotlight of the GameZone Tour stage, Pampanga’s top Tongits player Ahrold Tubig captured the title at the Tongits Plus Champions Cup (TPCC) Season 4, held on March 8 in Pasay City.
Competing for a ₱5,000,000 grand prize, Tubig’s win marked a defining moment in his journey. The championship carried deep personal meaning, shaped by years of hardship and driven by his family.
Ahead of the tournament, Tubig visited the graves of his twin sons, Poll and Pitt, who both passed away in early childhood. Their memory stayed with him throughout the competition, serving as a quiet source of strength as he stepped onto the GameZone stage.
Tubig’s path to the title was far from easy. He battled through the revival round, where he initially struggled against fellow contender Pilar Fernandez, before regaining momentum to secure a place in the semifinals. From there, he remained composed and strategic, steadily working his way into the finals.
In the final round, Tubig faced Pilar Fernandez and Gina Bengco. After a challenging start, he adjusted his approach, playing with precision and patience. A key turning point came when he successfully shifted the momentum in his favor with a decisive play. By the end of the match, he completed a strong comeback to secure the championship.
For Tubig, the victory goes beyond the prize. He shared that his family remained his greatest motivation throughout the tournament, and that the win represents perseverance and purpose.
He also emphasized responsible gaming, encouraging aspiring players to play with limits and discipline, while continuing to pursue their goals through opportunities like the GameZone Tour.
Tubig’s story stands as a touching reminder of resilience. Following his victory, his family plans to reunite his sons’ resting place and support their local chapel’s renovation—turning a personal triumph into a meaningful act of giving back.
