Rising Filipino boxing star and ArenaPlus ambassador Kenneth Llover is gearing up for one of the biggest fights of his career as he prepares to face undefeated American boxer Michael Angeletti in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title eliminator in Nagoya, Japan.
The highly anticipated matchup is set for June 6 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, with the winner earning the right to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF bantamweight world title currently held by Mexican champion Jose Salas Reyes.
Llover, who carries an unbeaten 17-0 record with 12 knockouts, believes his aggressive fighting style and relentless pace will play a crucial role against Angeletti.
“I believe my pressure and work rate will make the difference,” Llover said during a pre-fight media session. “I want to control the pace from the start and show everything we’ve worked on in training.”
The 24-year-old southpaw has steadily built a reputation among boxing fans in both the Philippines and Japan, with some supporters even referring to him as “The Next Manny Pacquiao” because of his high-volume offense and attacking style inside the ring.
Training camp is already underway in Tagaytay City, where Llover and his team have intensified preparations ahead of the June showdown. He is expected to fly to Japan on May 30 before the official weigh-in scheduled for June 5.
“I’m very confident because we’ve trained hard for this opportunity,” Llover shared. “Everyone in the team is focused, and we’re giving everything in the gym so we can bring home the victory.”
Despite his confidence, Llover acknowledged the challenge posed by Angeletti, who also enters the fight undefeated with a 14-0 record and eight knockout victories. Known for his ring intelligence and composed fighting style, the American contender is considered one of the toughest opponents Llover has faced so far.
Still, the Filipino prospect remains motivated by the opportunity to represent the country on the international stage.
“It’s more excitement than pressure,” Llover said. “I’m excited to showcase my growth and perform for Filipino fans and the global boxing community.”
Llover continues to train under a respected team that includes head trainer Dindo Campo, conditioning coach Alex Ariza, Carl Peñalosa Jr., and former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa as manager.
ArenaPlus also reaffirmed its support for the unbeaten Filipino fighter ahead of the crucial eliminator bout.
